Overall, Bretton Woods Ski Area is known to be more family-friendly compared to Cannon Mountain. Because Bretton Woods has more skiable acreage, it allows for more wide ski slopes with flat to moderate consistent pitch slopes in perfect condition. This makes the area a great place for beginners to learn especially with the fast lifts. Although Bretton Woods gets more snow each year, Cannon is known for harsher weather which leads to icier conditions. The way that the Bretton Woods Ski Area is positioned in the valley allows for more snow but with better year-round conditions.

Even though Bretton Woods is a great place for beginners and kids, it also offers 46 black diamond and double black diamond runs for experienced skiers looking for a thrill. That’s 47% of their slopes. Beginner trails make up 24% of their runs, while intermediates make up 29%. Cannon Mountains trails are 15% beginner, 52% intermediate, and 33% expert.
