Bretton Woods, New Hampshire, United States 03575
We are open and happy to welcome back our guests to the best managed rentals in the North Country starting June 5th! Per NH order, we can welcome all New England residents (NH-VT-ME-MA-CT-RI), as well as all residents of other States who have been isolating for at least 2 weeks (ie, going into the community only for necessities and when outside of the home maintaining social distancing and wearing face masks when within less than 6 feet of another person).
With lots of trails, lakes, ponds, streams to explore, the White Mountains are the perfect spot for a safe respite from the craziness of these past few months. Reconnect with nature, with your family, with yourself!
A PROFESSIONALLY MANAGED HOME IS YOUR BEST OPTION!
Unlike hotels, all of our homes have individual entrances and no shared spaces, elevators, etc.
We are a virtual operation! All of our homes offer keyless entry, so that you don’t have to stop by an office or interact with anyone to check-in.
While others were laying off staff, we were busy with enhanced training and creating new cleaning procedures that strictly follow CDC guidelines! We’ve always had the cleanest homes of any rental company. Now, we’ve had several steps including disinfecting wherever we can.
SO MUCH TO DO, EVEN IF YOU WANT TO REMAIN ISOLATED!
While NH has now fully reopened, including most major attractions, indoor and outdoor restaurants, etc, we understand that many people would still like to enjoy a vacation while remaining socially distanced. All of our homes enjoy easy access to some of the best outdoor entertainment options! There are literally thousands of hiking trails within a few minutes, plus lake and river beaches, beautiful State Parks, and much more! Come and discover why Bretton Woods Vacations is the #1 provider of vacation rentals in the area!
PLEASE NOTE: To protect your health and the safety of our staff, we are unable to provide early check-ins or late check-outs at this time. All non-New England residents will be required to sign that they have been remained isolated at home, going into the community only for necessities and when outside of the home maintaining social distancing and wearing face masks when within less than 6 feet of another person. NH residents are exempt from this requirement if they provide a copy of a valid NH ID prior to arrival. All guests will be expected to answer a series of questions regarding potential exposure to COVID-19.
The Bretton Woods Vacations Team
YOUR LITTLE SLICE OF HEAVEN! Located in a park-like setting, with a gorgeous masonry firepit, our very own beach unaffected by crowds and restrictions, and central AC to take the edge of the occasional summer heatwave, this just may be the perfect spot for your summer vacation! We have been busy cutting new trails, giving easy walking access to some stunning ecological areas of the property, from wetlands and ponds to riverfront walks.
This amazing cabin was completed in June 2017 on our 32 acre estate which includes the Moose Lodge, our 5-bedroom house, the Owl Roost, and our log home, given it the feel of a quiet little resort village, while being right next door to world class skiing and attractions. A professional landscaping project was just completed and the awesome new patio with masonry firepit is now ready! The cabin is part of a spectacular 32-acre estate surrounded by National Forest and the Ammonoosuc river, an ecological paradise with numerous streams, wetland areas, ponds, and of course, the river and its beaches. We even have a fantastic swimming hole, about 7 foot deep, and you can tube right on the property thanks to the approximately 0.5 miles of river frontage. Enjoy the peaceful and serene surroundings and avoid the crowded condos, while maintaining incredibly convenient access to the ski resort, only a mile away, and the Mt Washington Hotel with all that it has to offer. This property is an ecolover's paradise, thanks to the diversity of its ecosystem - from river beaches to flood plains to maple groves to evergreen forest (balsam fir and red spruce) to wetlands and an incredibly healthy vernal pool. The entire property is a Certified Wildlife Habitat, and we are working with State and Federal authorities to increase accessibility while ensuring the protection of this stunning biological environment.
The cabin is bear-themed, and the craftsmanship is outstanding. The modern state-of-the-art heating and cooling systems features hand-carved bear-shaped vents, and there are masterful touches throughout. With 2 bedrooms and a loft, plus a futon in the living room, the cabin comfortably accomodates up to 10 people, and as luxurious touches such as central Air Conditioning, organic rustic wood flooring, modern slate appliances, and beautiful log furniture throughout. While surrounded by National Forest, the presence of the other 3 houses on the lot ensure that you will have much more privacy than you would have at the condos, yet not feel isolated - the best of both world! And for larger groups, inquire about renting multiple units!
As you walk in, you will be welcomed by the warmth of the rustic-style organic wood flooring. The main living space features a living room and a fully equipped kitchen. A stylish wood burning stove keeps you warm and cozy in the winter, and a large screen TV with Roku and access to cable TV, Amazon, HBO, Netflix, Hulu (all included!) can keep you entertained for hours. On the main level, you will also find the bathroom, with beautiful log cabinetry and natural slate floors and shower walls, and 2 bedrooms, one with a queen and one with a twin bed and a full bed in bunk configuration.
The loft is inspired by tree-house living, and features 3 built-in beds (1 queen, 2 twins), an elegant birch partition with twinkle lights for added privacy, and a "tree-house feel" thanks to the indoor cedar roofs that complement beds and storage space. Everyone who has seen it has been wow'ed!
In the summer months, you can enjoy grilling on the deck (grill provided!), eat at the outdoor table, or make smores in the firepit (wood not included!). The new outdoor patio will provide a perfect space to make memories with your family, and a small pond in the front yard adds to the ambiance. Watch the hummingbirds fly by, and in the winter, check the ski conditions by looking out the window - the slopes are right in front of you! A vernal pool provides a beautiful backdrop - and in the right season, it's teeming with tadpoles and surrounded by fireflies. Come enjoy the best that the White Mountains have to offer in this little slice of Paradise on Earth!
About the Moose Lodge and Cabins
Surrounded by National Forest and the Ammonoosuc River, the 32 acre lot provides a wide array of habitats for many animals. Some of the ones that you are more likely to encounter include Brown Bears, Moose, Snowshoe Hares, Beavers and White Tailed Deer. Bobcats are also present, but they are rather secretive and only rarely seen. In addition, the property is home to hundreds of different birds. In fact, the area in front of the Moose Lodge, named “Brooks Field,” is one of only 3 designated open areas of the National Forest. The National Forest Service keeps this area trimmed to support a nesting habitat for a number of birds.
In addition, you will notice a lot of wetland around the property, especially on the Western side. These areas are dotted with small creeks and vernal pools, which in the right season are full of tadpoles and salamanders. In early summer, however, it’s the fireflies (aka lighting bugs) that steal the show! You will see them everywhere, but especially over wet areas as they engage in their spectacular mating behavior.
Many visitors want to see moose – and rightly so. They are beautiful (albeit goofy looking) animals! The best spot is just a few hundred feet to the left of our gate, along 302. The muddy pit is one of the best spot in all of New England to see moose, and a favorite stop for the moose tour. Keep in mind, moose do not like the heat, and tend to remain in the woods during the day. The best time to spot them is spring time, or the evening or early morning hours in the summer. In the winter, they tend to migrate to higher grounds, where strong winds mean less snow accumulation and easier access to food.
Please note – these are WILD animals. While attacks are extremely uncommon, exercise caution and never approach wildlife, as tame as it may seem. Even that small bear cub can be dangerous – mama bear is most likely not far, and will not like you being too close to her cubs. If you encounter a bear, remember – they are as afraid of you as you are of them. Make lots of noise and they will most likely quickly turn around. Enjoy our animals but please, respect nature!
Also, PLEASE NOTE: Our dog Lucy roams the property. She's great at keeping bears away and loves greeting our guests and playing with any visiting dog fellows! If you have a great fear of dogs or have dogs that don't get along with other dogs, please contact us prior to booking as this property may not be the perfect fit for you.

Had super time skiing here in Dec- Cabin is spotless and beautiful. Well secluded from US302 (at least 1/4 mile in on a private winding driveway). The grounds have plenty of woods and trails for the kids to explore... highly, highly recommend. Alex was a super help as well.
We loved our stay at this beautiful and unique cabin. Everything was spotless and new, and the beds were quite comfortable. It was nice being so close to Bretton Woods that you could look out and see one of our favorite ski trails (Waumbek). The highlight for the kids was the loft, that felt.like a treehouse! There were also great trails to explore just outside the front door for us and our dog. The owners were always available for any questions and were so nice and helpful. I highly recommend this cabin!
Stayed here for a ski weekend at Bretton Woods with 2 couples, 2 kids and a dog. We loved it! The location is about 3 minute drive away from the ski slopes, but completely isolated and surrounded by beautiful trees. Great property to walk around right near a river. The cabin has everything you need and the cozy extra touches to make you want to come back. We loved the stove fireplace at night. The kids loved the bunk beds... and can’t wait to be old enough to sleep in the kid beds in the loft. This place was immaculate...very clean. As an allergy sufferer, I appreciated how well this place is maintained - no issues at all. The owners were great to communicate with. We’ll be back! Can’t wait to see this property in the summer / fall!
Perfect location, close to ski slopes. We were able to run home to let the dog out and have lunch and go back to the slopes for the afternoon. Kids loved the loft area. So nice to sort of be tucked away from it all in the woods, but close to everything at the same time. They do need to change the timing of a pump that ran one night around 1am (scared me to death, but I am a light sleeper) and there were dead black carpenter ants I had to sweep up each morning b/c of the traps that were put out (which were working). Relatively clean, I had to clean the floor twice when we first got there b/c our socks were turning brown on the bottom, maybe just not great maid service prior to our arrival. But owners were very nice and we enjoyed our stay.
Thank you Julie, for staying with us, and we are so happy you enjoyed your stay! It was a pleasure meeting you and your family while you were here in Bretton Woods. We always want to make sure that our guests have a fantastic stay in every way, and we apologize for missing that mark with the cleaning for your rental. As a new unit, there are a few kinks we need to work out. We have already taken care of resolving this spring's ant issue, and have reached out to our water filtration company to assist us with changing the time that the filters run. They will set them to run in the middle of the day on alternating schedules, which should minimize disturbances. We also have discussed the issue of floor cleanliness with our cleaning team. It seems like it might be related to a new product that they used, so we asked them to be extra careful. The floor is a reclaimed organic wood floor, so it may be a bit different from what they are used to. We sincerely appreciate your feedback and will be using it to make sure we avoid these concerns for future guests! We have provided a cleaning refund and future stay discount so that we can hopefully have the opportunity to show you how great of a job we can do! Thanks for choosing Bretton Woods Rentals Aaron and Alex
If you are looking to explore the White Moutains, I’d highly recommend this place! The cabin location is perfect and so close to many attractions! The cabin itself is absolutely adorable and decorated so cute! We stayed with our 4 and 2 year old and they absolutely loved the built-in little cubbies/beds upstairs to play around in. We stayed here the beginning of October, but think this would make an ideal location year round. A definite must stay and we hope to return soon! Can’t wait to see the new cabin finished, looks like it is going to be gorgeous!
We had one of the best rental experiences in this area in the Bear cabin. The owners, Alex and Aaron were very hospitable and helpful. The property had great trails out back for hiking and snowshoeing with our daughter and dog. It was also conveniently located to many of our favorite skiing and hiking spots. The cabin was comfortable and well maintained. We had a great vacation and plan to return again whenever we visit this area. Highly recommend the cabins at this property, or any property maintained by Alex and Aaron.
